What people say about Disabled Sail Manitoba
by Lawrence Mazur

The summer was a long time in getting here, but it passed by so quickly there was hardly time to enjoy and reflect.  Ok, we enjoyed, but there was not much time to reflect, time to sit back and think about what we were doing, and why.

Based on the following comments, it is evident there are numerous people in our community that had a great time sailing this year.

“Never have we had such a great summer sailing all day out in the sun, and we learned so much. You have changed our lives”.

“Glad to be back out here sailing. I didn’t know how much I missed it”.

“I learned so much this year. I owe it all to DSM for helping me win this week".

“I didn’t know you can sail every night without even leaving the city”.

“You (DSM) are just ordinary people, and you have so much fun, we enjoy  hanging out with you”.

One weekend while at Pelican Lake, a farmer came in to the Ninette Motor Hotel for a cool one and said to me “Them guys at the Yacht Club better be treating you people right. If not, you tell me, and I’ll straighten them out. If there is anything you need, you got it”.  The whole community around Pelican Lake, be it “them guys at the Yacht Club,” the farmers, and the area businessmen, all worked together and got it done.

Due to the many hours of hard work done by the Board, as well as DSM members this past year, the future looks pretty exciting. We are looking at expanding; doing more training, having more fun day sails, and having more regattas.

If you want to become part of it all, get on board by calling Disabled Sail Manitoba at 832-6088, E-mail info@disabled-sailing.ca.
